KNOT Gateway HL9 - IP66 IoT Gateway w/ Bluetooth 5.1, CAT1 LTE Modem, SIM/eSIM
The MikroTik KNOT Gateway HL9, product code L14G-2ax-BT5-HL9&EG800Q, is a rugged multi-protocol IoT gateway designed to bridge wireless sensors, field devices, and IP networks. It combines BLE 5.1, 915 MHz Wi-Fi HaLow, 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi 6, Gigabit Ethernet, LTE Cat 1 bis, and multi-GNSS within an IP66-rated platform. Its hardware is based on a dual-core 800 MHz ARM64 IPQ-5010 processor with 256 MB RAM and 128 MB NAND storage, running RouterOS v7 with a Level 4 license.
The 2.4 GHz wireless interface supports IEEE 802.11b/g/n/ax with a maximum physical data rate of 287 Mbps, while the wired interface provides 10/100/1000 Mbps Ethernet connectivity. The integrated LTE Cat 1 bis modem supports data rates of up to 10 Mbps downstream and 5 Mbps upstream. Connectivity options include both a Nano SIM slot and integrated eSIM support.
For IoT applications, BLE 5.1 can collect broadcast information, telemetry, and asset-tag data. The HL9 variant adds 915 MHz Wi-Fi HaLow for longer-range sub-GHz IoT communication. RouterOS provides local data filtering, custom scripting, and automation capabilities, allowing collected information to be published to external IoT platforms, dashboards, or server applications using protocols such as MQTT and HTTP.
Power can be supplied through IEEE 802.3af/at PoE-In at 18–57 V or via the 2-pin terminal input at 12–57 V DC. Maximum power consumption is only 7 W, with fully passive cooling. The IP66 enclosure is tested for ambient temperatures from -40 °C to +50 °C. According to MikroTik, the package includes a 24 V power adapter, Gigabit PoE injector, and mounting hardware.

The MikroTik KNOT Gateway HL9 is designed for professional IoT deployments requiring multiple wireless and sensor technologies to be integrated into a single network. BLE 5.1 can be used to collect Bluetooth beacon and tag data for tracking equipment, pallets, containers, tools, and other assets. For longer-range IoT connectivity, the HL9 version additionally provides 915 MHz Wi-Fi HaLow operating in the sub-GHz spectrum.
Gigabit Ethernet, 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi 6, and LTE Cat 1 bis provide three flexible backhaul options for connecting the gateway to servers and IoT platforms. This allows the unit to be deployed even where wired internet connectivity is unavailable. Typical applications include warehouses, logistics terminals, industrial facilities, utility infrastructure, remote metering, and distributed sensor networks. RouterOS can locally process and filter collected data before forwarding it via MQTT or HTTP.
With its IP66 enclosure, PoE-In, additional 12–57 V DC input, and integrated antennas for BLE, Wi-Fi, LTE, Sub-GHz, and GNSS, the KNOT Gateway HL9 can be installed close to the IoT devices it serves. External antenna connectors for BLE and Sub-GHz provide additional installation flexibility when required.
