Highlights
Live events require reliable, predictable connectivity—even when dealing with changing venues, overloaded networks, and limited control over the on-site infrastructure.
To address this, Mercenray Audio relies on a mobile connectivity platform that operates live production systems independently of the event network.
At the heart of the solution are four RUTM50 5G routers from Teltonika, which combine high-performance cellular connections with reliability, flexibility, and automatic failover for critical live workflows.
- Independent connectivity without a venue network
- 4x RUTM50 5G routers for high performance
- Automatic failover for maximum availability
- Redundant architecture for stable live workflows
- Flexible for mobile event environments
The Challenge:
Network limitations during short-term live production assignments
Short-notice live productions place high demands on the network infrastructure. Audio, video, lighting, and broadcast systems require a stable, low-latency connection that can be reliably controlled—often at changing venues without a suitable fixed-line connection.
Existing 4G/LTE or Wi-Fi networks are frequently overloaded, difficult to control, and do not deliver consistent performance. Dedicated cable connections are also usually expensive, require extensive planning, and are not always available on short notice.
In addition, cellular coverage, frequency bands, and network load vary greatly depending on the location. Production teams therefore need a flexible solution that can be quickly analyzed and adapted on-site and deployed independently of the venue’s infrastructure.
This is precisely why Mercenray Audio developed a mobile connectivity platform for temporary live productions—designed for stable connections, rapid deployment, and separate network requirements for production, backstage, and participants.

The Solution
Scalable mobile connectivity solution for live productions
The platform enables the completely independent operation of audio, video, lighting, and broadcast systems—without relying on the venue’s infrastructure.
At the heart of the system are four Teltonika RUTM50 5G routers, integrated into a mobile rack. They deliver extremely high 5G data rates and automatically switch to 4G LTE (Cat 19/18) when needed—ensuring continuous connectivity without intervention.
Each router functions as a standalone cellular uplink, creating multiple parallel connections. This reduces dependence on individual networks and ensures a robust, fail-safe architecture – ideal for dynamic event environments.
Targeted frequency and cell configuration takes place on-site. Through band locking, the routers remain stable on the optimal network, avoid unnecessary cell handoffs, and guarantee predictable network behavior.
An integrated load balancer intelligently distributes traffic across available connections. Instead of traditional bonding, data streams are specifically split—ensuring consistent performance for parallel applications.
Thanks to dual SIM and automatic failover, data traffic is seamlessly rerouted in the event of connection issues—a critical factor for uninterrupted live workflows.
Connectivity is flexible:
- Wired (Ethernet) for critical production systems
- Wi-Fi for crew, artists, and backstage areas
