You can extend the reach of your wireless-LAN not only by raising the output power, but also by increasing the sensitivity of your system. This is the purpose of the receive booster WL-RX-2400. This booster has an excellent low noise figure (2.4dB typ.) and supplies sufficient amplification to work with longer cable runs to the WLAN device.
To achieve best results the mount the receive booster as close to the antenna as possible and use a good low-loss cable (HDF-400, Ecoflex-10, Aircom+ or Ecoflex-15) to connect the antenna to the booster. The booster is weatherproof and can be mounted directly to the mast, all required hardware is included. The losses ofthe cable from booster to the WLAN device are negligible because the booster yields enough amplification.
With a point-to-point link the distance is greatly enhanced, once due to the better noise figure of the receiver (compared to a usual WLAN card), further due to the compensation for cable losses.
